Summer Stuff

Back-to-school in only 8 more days! It is coming WAY too soon. I've gone a few times to work on my classroom so the stress doesn't overwhelm me in coming back to a giant mess. As I pulled in the parking lot last week one day, I saw those Wellsville mountains staring back at me. Several feelings came to mind, one of which was disgust, but really I was in awe of the beauty and majesty of this mountain. I also had some feelings of gratitude that we were able to return safely from off that mountain. I also felt pretty cool for having been ON TOP of these puppies! I was able to participate in a 5k run yesterday at Weber State University. This run was called the "Dash for Donation". I joined a group honoring the lives of the Ferguson boys killed last year in a car accident. It was a great run and I enjoyed seeing the Ferguson family again. The team shirts (which I'm wearing below) have a message on the back that says, "Bridger and M'Gwire... waiting at the finish line". Douglas participated in this run with me. He did the 2k. He is wearing the Dash for Donation shirt below. He has also grown a few inches this summer. My boys will soon pass me up. ** Please ignore the annoying red face and muscle flex. Yuck.** Someone was playing with Mommy's camera...

It couldn't have been this sweet, little, brown-eyed angel, could it? My vegetable garden is doing okay. I have learned a lot about gardening my first go-round. I have tons of squash, and didn't realize how HUGE the plants would be. I will make more space for them next year. They kind of took up my sweet pea row and the peas are trying to creep out and grow a little, but not too well, yet. I got a great first bunch of radishes (empty row below), and planted more. I also have carrots and a tomato plant. I want to double the garden next year. I love it!
T.J. loves scouting! Troy was able to go with TJ on his first Boy Scout campout. They went to the teton mountains during Kim's wedding and had a blast. TJ worked hard and had a great time (though I don't think he showered at all the whole week). He recently had a Court of Honor where he was awarded a bunch of merit badges, his tenderfoot badge, his 1st and 2nd class badge, and a patch for being the junior assistant scoutmaster. I hope he keeps up his determination to earn merit badges and continue on to get his eagle. I'm proud of my little Boy Scout.
