12 on the 12th

TJ wanted a late-night friend party at the house this year. We started with a list of 12. It grew to 15 and 14 came. I was so glad for nice weather. 14 tweenagers made for quite a houseful. The boys had pizza (TJ's favorite food), played some outdoor games, played with fireworks, had brownie sundaes and watched Willow the movie out in the backyard when it got dark.

Tank wars in the street with Dad. Boys love playing with fire for some reason. Dodgeball in the backyard. They played at least 4 rounds. One with waterballoons.

The crew minus 2 that came a little later. TJ is firing his new watergun at the photographer. Boo.

I think his friends know that he loves sports.

We also celebrated a bit at Grandma LaMonts with some key lime pie and grilled burgers.

I think turning 12 is a big deal.

For me it's like I'm saying goodbye to my son's childhood.

He is not a little boy anymore. *sniff sniff

He is a young man.

But he is still MY young man.

AND he still plays with toys.

I hope that lasts another year or so...

Some men I know are still into BUYING toys anyhow.

It seems I fuss about him as he grows into each new stage of his life.

I really have enjoyed every stage. It's been great to see him grow up.

TJ was the sweetest baby and the sweetest little boy.

He has grown into a funny, independent, and responsible young man.

I love how he plays with his baby sister.

I love how he still gives us hugs each night before bed.

I love how eating pizza for lunch every day is one of his "things".

I love how he loves sports and plays hard.

I love watching him finish races. I tear up every time.

I love how he gets upset about one A- because it is not an A.

I love that he loves to read.

I love that he reminds me about reading scriptures and asks questions about religion.

I love that he is a perfect little boy scout and pushes himself to accomplish all he can.

I sure love him! I'm sure there are just more great things to come!
