Basketball Boyz

Basketball has been a great way to spend those cold, winter Saturdays. This was the first season my boys have ever played. I was worried that they would be behind on skills, but they really do pretty well. TJ is on the Junior Jazz Suns team and Douglas is on the Junior Jazz Raptors team. They both ended up with Jersey #24. T.J. plays basketball a lot like he played football. He's the number 1 defensive player on his team. He holds the record for steals on his team (he had 11 in one game). The coach watches the other team the first quarter, and then puts T.J. on their top scorer so he can shut them down. It's fun to watch him be so aggressive. He gets a few shots every now and then, too.

He's had a great experience so far and wants to play again next year. Kira is a pretty good sport about hanging out on the side lines during each game. We bring books and snacks to keep her busy. I've had to pull her off the court 2-3 times. She wants to run out there and chase her brothers.

Douglas has done well with basketball. He's got a great coach, and he's learned a lot from him. He is fast and passes well. Douglas always tries to be the guy to pass in the ball. He's made a few baskets, too. He is working on stopping before shooting so his shots aren't so crazy.
He's a strong defensive player as well.

I enjoy watching my boys play sports. Can't wait for it to be warm enough for baseball!
