Helmets for Hooligans

We had Safety Week in September and the boys got to snazz up their helmets and wear them to school. They had an assembly with a "helmet parade". They chose what they wanted to make, and we pulled out my scrapbook materials and went to work. Troy pointed out that they were the characters from "The Tortoise and the Hare" fable. I didn't even think of that.

We watched the Back to the Future movies with the boys during the past few weeks. TJ asked me when #3 was released. I told him it was around 1990, and I remembered watching it when I was a kid. T.J. was surprised, "I didn't know they had TV this good when you were a kid." He thought it was like black and white or something. I pulled a defensive, "1990 wasn't that long ago!". But it probably has been a while. I felt oldish.

Douglas was procrastinating his chores on Saturday. Troy went in his room and said, "Douglas, stop playing and get your chores done." Although it may have looked like he was playing with Legos, Douglas had to clarify the situation. "I'm not playing, Dad. I'm building!".

I loved the pictures and stories. You're a good mom to keep up with this blog for your kids to enjoy. We as grandparents living far away love to see the pictures and read the stories. Thanks. I will have to show Dad the fall leaves. I need to get my fake ones out, so we can feel like its fall here in Texas!

Ya, we're "oldish". It's weird to show movies like that to our kids, isn't it? We introduced The Princess Bride to our nephews when they were here visiting.
Also, I love children's logic! It always makes perfect sense to them.

There are several movies I have watched with my kids and then surprised by the content and the amount of swearing. Take Goonies for instance. Loved that movie as a kid, but will wait a little while to show it to mine. Crazy.

Look at what a good Mom you are!!! I bet those boys had the best looking helmets in the school. You were always so good and creative when it came to things like that. Me, not so much!!!
